It's So Much Better Here!
Long-widowed Vivienne Matthews is living in her Cowies Hill home in KwaZulu-Natal, when her only son, Steven, encourages her to come and live in Kalk Bay, in the Cape, to be near him. Vivienne, however, is content with her life where she is. She has three special female friends she is fond of, and a lovely garden, with its variety of birds.
Then one day, in a fit of pique over something trivial, she decides to sell her house and pack up and go to join her son.
At first, Kalk Bay is not what she thinks it is and she regrets her hasty action, especially when she learns that her son is leaving for Paris soon. Feeling alone and abandoned, she meets a bearded man, Ivor Murphy, who is an accomplished painter and who encourages her to develop her own artistic talents. Soon, she realizes the town and its colourful array of characters have grown on her, especially Ivor, and the mysterious woman who lives in a fisherman's cottage on the beach...
