This story is a portrayal of the life of Api, a tough thirteen year- old boy who lives in a Nigerian city during the colonial era. Every week he and other black children fight at the European Quarters for the fruits in the compounds of the whites. The boys fight against the black servants who try and protect and safeguard the peace of their white masters.
