Stefan Raubenheimer

Stefan Raubenheimer is the Executive Director of SouthSouthNorth (SSN), and has worked in the field of Climate Change for ten years. He started his career as a human rights lawyer in the 1980s, during which period he trained as a mediator, arbitrator and facilitator. In the period before and after the South African elections in 1994, he became interested in the resolution of conflict and the facilitation of development and transformation processes. In this time he worked as a panellist for the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa, now Tokiso. In 1999, he attended the UN Climate Change Conference and, together with an international team, created SSN, an organisation that he has headed since then. SSN has focused on the developmental issues raised by the Climate Change challenge. A combination of his work in this new field and his work as a facilitator laid the seeds for the design and management of the LTMS, the subject of this book.
