Daniel Kwesi Abbiw

Daniel Kwesi was appointed Curator of the Ghana Herbarium (GC) from 1972- 92, and was Research Associate from 1992-99 and Technical Advisor from 1999-2004 at the University of Ghana, Legon. From 2007-09 he was a consultant in Plant Taxonomy and Ethnobotany at Plant Medicine Co. Ltd. in Ghana. He has collected plant specimens from Togo, Benin Republic, Ivory Coast and Liberia; but more extensively from his native Ghana for Herbaria in Ghana, Africa and other parts of the world since 1960. He is commemorated by Pandanus abbiwii Huynh. Pandanaceae. Common Name: Screwpine. (symbol of longevity).
